Determine the lifting capacity and lifting height
First, think about what the telehandler will move most often. For bales, grain bags and pallets, a lifting capacity of 3 to 3.7 t is usually enough. If you build high stacks or load large trailers, choose a model with a lifting height of at least 7 m. Remember that the permitted load drops at full boom extension, so check the load chart, not just the maximum figure.
Assess the engine and transmission
For everyday farm work, a 100–130 hp engine is a good fit. A Powershift transmission lets you change gears under load and is convenient if the machine often travels on the road. A hydrostatic transmission, on the other hand, gives precise movement in tight spaces and at low working speeds.
Check the hydraulics and attachment compatibility
Hydraulic power determines how fast the machine works and how many functions it can perform at the same time. Before buying, check:
- pump output, for example 150 l/min with an LSU system;
- auxiliary hydraulic outlets at the boom head;
- the quick attach (quick coupler) system;
- compatibility with the mounts of your existing buckets and forks.

New, used or rented?
A used telehandler with a known history and low operating hours is a cost-effective choice if the machine does not need to work every day. If you only need it for seasonal work, consider renting. We offer new and used machinery as well as rental, and we will help you compare the costs for your situation.
A well-chosen telehandler serves for many seasons, so before buying we always recommend seeing the machine in person and trying it in real work.
